Love Covenant Church (LCC), founded in August of 1994 by Pastors Tommy L. and Angela P. Frederick, is a multi-cultural, interdenominational church open to all that seek to understand the truth of God’s word.
At a prayer service in 1988, the Lord revealed to Apostle Tom that he would become a shepherd for God’s people. At the time, the twenty-six year old husband, father, and leader of a singing group entitled “One Accord”, could not envision the call. Because of Apostle Tom’s reservations, the Lord reconfirmed His word many times throughout the next five years. During that period, both Apostle Tom and Prophet Ann matured spiritually, and all uncertainties about their calling were removed.
Shortly before the opening the church, God began to instruct Apostle Tom and Prophet Ann concerning its name and other preparations. The Lord birthed the name “Love Covenant Church” in Apostle Tom’s spirit during a study of the Book of Nehemiah. Then God instructed Tom concerning the details of the vision during his six-month temporary duty in Saudi Arabia. In August 1994, with four months of Apostle Tom’s return, the doors of Love Covenant Church opened.
1995 The Lord gave Prophet Ann a vision to start a coat drive because there were some children in the ministry that needed coats. The event continued to grow from there; to include other items such as food, coats, clothing, housewares, small and large appliances, electronics and furniture. All items are given away free of charge and has become a bi-Annual Event called “Bless the Community” held on the grounds of Love Covenant Church.
Prophetic Words spoken in 1999 to Apostle Tom and Prophet Ann, “The cry of children, children, and children. Not just spiritual or in-crafted but in the natural. It is time to start the Day Care Center, they will come from the womb, weaned from the breast and what you place in them, they will carry it with them from the cradle to the grave.”
The ministry began with seven people in a small, storefront building on 341 West Liberty Street in Sumter, SC. In just four years, the ministry outgrew the building. Unable to find a suitable rental to meet the needs of the growing congregation, LCC purchased four acres of land on Oswego Hwy in Sumter and constructed a new sanctuary and the remodeling of its daycare facilities.
In March 2006, Apostle Tom sensed it was God’s timing to lead the congregation to “Possess the Land” ten acres.
This land was to be acquired and paid for in less than nine months. God promised in 1999 that the land would eventually belong to LCC. In 2011 the Ruach (The Breath of God) is our spacious banquet facility, café, and meeting space for special occasions was built to serve the Sumter community and surrounding areas. This exciting vision continues to unfold.
